Candle of Freedom and Hope

Some Bedoon activists on twitter have called in for a symbolic campaign on social networks to replace their profile avatars in association with a campaign called "Candle of Freedom and Hope".

On this account, the man behind the initiative calling him self "Handala of the Bedoon" says: (A few days ago, the idea of a peaceful night gathering for Bedoon in the freedom square of Taimaa where they can participate by lighting candles symbolizing hope and freedom; each one of us Bedoon will light a candle; a candle of hope for a brighter future on this land. This movement  will be one of many to take this civil right movement to a new level, especially during this period of  rapid developments and successive events accompanying the latest arrests of activists.

He also adds: (I also received letters calling for a campaign of specific action and a specific timing without an assigned location so that it would be easier for people in Kuwait and abroad to take part in it, both activists and non activists, anyone who would love to participate in this campaign and give it momentum each from where he is whereabouts. So this would be the outline of  the event for you all out there to be there and have your say.)

Talking about the campaign concept, He underlines that it is: (to deliver a message to decision-makers and security personnel that the Bedoon will never loose faith in their claim and in their rights, they will proceed with their peaceful protestations at any cost, despite of all the arrests and persecution, using candles in this campaign as a symbol of liberty demanded by the Bedoon and the hope burning still in their hearts.)

Explaining the execution mechanism, he says: (At 8 pm on April, 4th. 2012 every single person, every group, youth, women, men, young and old, will light a candle anywhere they choose, (whether it was in a room in the house/in the Garden /from the roof tops/open yard in their area/work  places/Diwaniyas.) Holding signs carrying the demands of the stateless of freedom and human rights i.e. (free the Bedoon detainees ) or (A solution for Bedoon). It would be most suited if these signs were written in English, for the Campaign to gain even more support internationally.)

He explains that: (participants in the campaign are called to record their demonstrations to be broadcasted later, either by photograph to people holding their signs, or video clips (for anyone who wants to give a small speech), to be published in social networking sites, you all can send me these broadcasts to my email 7anthalaq8@gmail.com or to my twitter account  @Handalaq8, so that I can put it all together in one segment to be published on YouTube for the campaign to reach an international level.)

About the aim from this action, he explaines that; (it is to facilitate the process of interaction for all concerned parties, such direct proactive campaigns have proved to be simple but effective  in terms of gaining strong and quick interaction, thus it will gain the momentum required plus it will guarantee that participants will not face persecution because participants are not sitting ducks in one location for security forces or local racists who will stand dump founded for their  inability to control or quill this campaign and the people interacting with it, the oppressors will stand powerless in front of this campaign as it spreads around Kuwait in no time.)
